Great to hear that the latest version worked for you. We plan to have
the backup feature completed before the end of the year (or even

Yesterday I've tried the recent .deb file. The installation works like
a charm, no problems here. As I start the desktop client I was missing
the backup re-deploy feature. But the desktop client works now.

This sounds like this issue
https://github.com/deltachat/deltachat-desktop/issues/283 but
should be fixed. At least i cant reproduce it currently. Can you
try it again (delete/rename ~/.config/DeltaChat) and tell us about it?
