hey all,
am on my way to Bruxelles for the two-day OpenPGPSummit.
https://wiki.gnupg.org/OpenPGPEmailSummit201810
Intending to give a little talk on DeltaChat -- with
a focus on privacy/crypto features.
There are going to be folks who have or are to implement Autocrypt
in their mail apps. DeltaChat fully supports Autocrypt Level 1 for
mail encryption since half a year now.
Of course DeltaChat is quite different from most other mail apps.
It focuses strongly on usability and aims to implement chat UX
metaphors known from Whatsapp/Telegram/Signal/Threema in constrast to
the subject-based UI flows known from traditional mail apps.
What is shared among all mail apps, though, is the use of
e-mail servers for relaying messages, the message
format (MIME) and the use of OpenPGP for encryption
(though Autocrypt does not neccessarily preclude the
use of non-pgp in the future).
Am also involved in talking about "countermitm" protocols
which aim to secure Autocrypt against active attacks.
They are implemented in DeltaChat and have been user-tested
with mostly positive feedback. There are still issues that
need discussion and resolving though.
so much, hope you all also enjoy your weekend :)
