Hi Leon,
the error has something to do with a missing file at .js
I believe there is a missing file because Elementary Linux is very minimal in
installation.
Yesterday I've tried the recent .deb file. The installation works like a charm, no
problems here. As I start the desktop client I was missing the backup re-deploy feature.
But the desktop client works now.

This sounds like this issue
https://github.com/deltachat/deltachat-desktop/issues/283
(
https://github.com/deltachat/deltachat-desktop/issues/283) but should be fixed. At least
i cant reproduce it currently. Can you try it again (delete/rename ~/.config/DeltaChat)
and tell us about it?
Regards Leon

Elementary is fast lightweighted and the GUI is nice polished. But the beauty contest will
win Deepin Linux :)
My email is hosted at the /e/ foundation. They develop the new eelo Android OS. I was a
first hour supporter of these project, so I get my own mail.
I will try a deb file with gdebi next time.
