Hey all, <br><br>Yesterday I solicited some feedback about delta chat from activist folks who do environmental work in Indonesia, but based in SF. <br><br>They think Delta is exciting and will help them immensely and want to use it for similar reasons as we have heard institutions want to.<br><br>Pros:<br>- use their choice of email server that they already pay for and support also for chat <br>- to more easily have encrypted email. <br>- Currently using WhatsApp which is fine but not ideal because it is not linked to their email accounts. <br>- they also thought the location streaming seemed useful in the field. <br><br><br>Caveats:<br>- of course iOS,<br>- a more clear UX around how encryption will break.... <br><br>For example, from their words of what would make them feel good using delta chat instead of WhatsApp (which currently is always end to end encrypted and never falls back to plaintext):<br><br>if you are added to a group, they suggested that new users are presented with an "accept" or "reject", an "accept" will ensure that messages are encrypted by sending a system message to the group, but a "reject" will mean leaving the group, allowing messages in the group to be continue being sent encrypted. <br><br>Also, if you're about to send an unencrypted message, it should tell you before sending. <br><br>Thanks! <br><br>-- <br>Sent from my Android device with K-9 Mail.
